Resilience and kindness on show in 50km run

Last week, a team of six St Bede’s students travelled to Whanganui to participate in a very special event called the Awa Run. From the first moments arriving at Cullinane College we were immersed in faith, culture, and hospitality, culminating in a final moving farewell from the college on Friday afternoon.

Over the four days our team and students from across our other Marist schools were challenged to run 50kms up the Whanganui River. The terrain was undulating to say the least, but despite the tired and sore bodies, our boys consistently jumped out of the van to replace those who were really struggling with their runs. Soon enough, the 50kms became more than 60kms and then we saw true resilience, determination and kindness.

I would like to acknowledge the mahi of the boys in raising more than $3000 to support scholarships for students to attend our Marist schools, and our St Bede’s community for supporting this worthy cause.
