One of our strategic goals centres around giving the boys the opportunity to serve. To that end we instituted a Service Day last term and the feedback from this day encourages us to build on that programme.
The principle behind this is based on gospel values. It is about giving rather than receiving and service to others, traits we wish to instill in our boys in their time here at St Bede’s, so it is an expectation that all boys commit to some form of service. Over the next few weeks there will be some communication from the College regarding this. If you know of any organization that would appreciate or benefit from our boys doing some work for them on a voluntary basis, please contact my E.A. Mrs Denise Doherty at email@example.com
The Heads of House will contact their students to help and facilitate just as they did in the first term. Mana Tāne and RE teachers will also use the exercise to highlight one of the Church’s teachings about service to others. Various charities, primary schools, retirement homes and elderly family members will be the beneficiaries, but with your help we are building a ‘bank’ of other groups where our boys can be of service.
