The characteristics of Marist Education have special relevance for any leadership process at St. Bede’s, including Student Leadership.
All Year 13 students share with the Prefects and Peer Leaders a responsibility to maintain high standards of conduct and a strong community spirit in the College. The general atmosphere of the College will depend on the example of leadership given by the senior students.
Prefects and Peer Leaders are appointed by the Rector after the advice of senior students and staff. Thus their nomination is an indication of the respect they have earned from these bodies, and from the Rector. Their appointment is a gesture of trust in them, that they will continue to show the character and ideals that led to their nomination.
Student Leaders are expected to assist in the running of the College by fostering a Christian spirit in the school, and to have a commitment to the Special Character of St. Bede’s helping the observance of respect for other people and for property among the students, and maintaining a standard of conduct among themselves and the students that is a reflection of a College inspired by the Christian message.
