Safeguarding and Care
Present Day Students
On this page you will find links to our full suite of safeguarding policies. These include our Centre of Wellbeing, boarding-specific procedures, and wider school policies covering wellbeing, pastoral care, behaviour management, abuse prevention, self-harm, student support and related areas.
Centre of Wellbeing
Our Centre of Wellbeing provides a safe, confidential place where students can access support from psychologists and counsellors. If a student discloses any harm, our staff respond with care, take every concern seriously, and follow our safeguarding procedures to ensure appropriate support and reporting where required.

Old Boys
We recognise and acknowledge that abuse did take place at St Bede’s College. Our thoughts are with the victims and survivors who continue to live with the impact of that harm.
The Board of Proprietors, the School Board, and College leadership are fully committed to supporting those affected by historical abuse.
If you are a former student, or someone previously connected to the College, and wish to raise a concern about historic abuse, we invite you to contact us. You may do so by contacting the Rector, Jon McDowall, directly at: jmcdowall@stbedes.school.nz
Our Historical Abuse Notifications Policy sets out a clear and compassionate process. Complaints are taken seriously and treated sensitively and confidentially. Our focus is on listening, supporting healing, and responding with care.
