Junior Rugby Player Induction

A total of almost 200 players and parents are introduced to St Bede's College Rugby

On Sunday 15 December, St Bede's College Rugby held a junior player induction session in the Performing Arts Centre to cover off on how the sport is run within the College. The main presentation included explanation of the history of our rugby, expectations towards players and parents, our approach to pre-season and selection, subscription fees and their use, how parents can become involved in our rugby system, player registration, the new mentorship programme, the National U15 tourney, the International Rugby Programme (IRP), and our approach to head injuries and the dissemination of information.

Mental skills coach Renzie Hanham spoke on players and parents being mentally prepared for the step up to high school rugby. The session inside was followed by an activity outside emphasizing understanding the key aspects of a skill and running a skill assessment task involving positive feedback, and of course making some new friends.

The induction finished with a sausage sizzle, ably run by committee members Andy Hall, Leanne Wright and Gerry Davidson with assistance from Masa Atsumi.

Thank you to all those who attended, some coming a long distance to do so, those who couldn't be there but requested information, and those who assisted with the running of the event.
