Boarding Facilities
A unique feature of St Bede’s Boarding is accessibility, with the close proximity of all facilities. All the dormitories are on the College site, as are the Chapel, Chanel Hall, Performing Arts Centre, Learning Centre, pool, gym, and family homes. The College grounds are well maintained, spacious and tree-lined. Much effort has gone into the construction of buildings and the layout of College and boarding facilities.
| Chapel A temporary Chapel has been established at the College, as sadly the old historic building become structurally unsound follow the Canterbury Earthquakes The Chapel is open for prayer and reflection. | Centre of Learning This complex houses the library and is available to boys for study purposes either before school, after school or during designated study times. |
Dormitories
There are three dormitories and each is designated to specific groupings. Dormitory masters live in each dorm, and accommodation is either open plan or single / double rooms.
- Durham This is located in the old part of the school and houses Year 10 boys in the middle floor and Year 12 boys on the top floor.
- Jarrow This caters for Years 9, 11 and 12 and comprises single and double rooms, common room and ablution block. It is a modern single-storied building set on the southern boundary. …..more information.
- Wearmouth A new wing was opened for Year 13 Boarders in August 2010. This comprises double bedrooms with desks, study area, large common room and ablution block and studio for the dormitory master. …..more information.
Dining Hall All meals and morning and afternoon snacks are taken in the dining room.
Practice Rooms Boarders can arrange access to music practice rooms in the Performing Arts Centre.
General Recreation In addition to team training facilities boarders have the opportunity to use tennis courts, cricket practice facilities, sports fields and weight training areas.
