Confirmed as a Bedean: A Journey of Faith for Parents and Sons
This programme runs throughout the first year a student attends St Bede’s College. It is designed to help parents and their sons become initiated into the ethos of St Bede’s: Catholic, Marist, Bedean.
Parents are required to attend four evenings throughout the year, one at the beginning of each term. These sessions will include guidance for parents in working through that term’s programme with their sons. Parents and their sons are then asked to spend one hour together per week working through the Programme Workbooks at home.
Confirmed as a Bedean works in conjunction with the Religious Education course for Year 9, but with appropriate additions concerning Marist and Bedean history, spirituality and tradition. It is designed to encourage significant interaction between parents and their sons, between parents and other parents, between families and the Church community, and between parents and College staff. It involves sharing in learning about the Catholic faith and the Marist and Bedean heritage, becoming and being active in the culture of the Catholic Church, and enjoying social time with their sons and with other parents and their sons. There is also involvement with local Church communities.
