General
St Bede’s College welcomes International Students and is proud of its longstanding tradition in hosting students from many nations.
For many years the College has hosted young men from the Pacific Islands and more latterly Asia, and St Bede’s is pleased to bring these students into our community to share in their cultures and beliefs. It is our intention to diversify and encourage families and students from Europe and South America to consider international education at St Bede’s. Overseas students make a valuable contribution to our College, adding to the richness and diversity of our own cultures, and enabling us all to gain a greater appreciation and understanding of a variety of other cultures. The Rector and the Director of International Students travel annually to Asia (Korea, Thailand, China), and intend visiting Europe, so that first hand information regarding school progress of their son can be given to parents. These meetings have been very favourably received, as has been demonstrated by the number of parents who have attended.

Activities
There are many opportunities to participate in a broad range of activities at St Bede’s, with many organised sports teams, cultural groups and tuition and coaching available. Participation in College Special Character groups and community activities is also encouraged, where students are able to be involved with and give back to the wider community.
On occasion, the International Office organises an excursion, such as to Quail Island, a local landmark. International students are each accompanied by a Kiwi buddy as a means of assisting the integration of our community.
The location of St Bede’s also allows many opportunities.
There are a number of golf courses close to the College and ski fields are less than two hours away.
Accommodation
Students may board or live in a homestay situation if their parents are not living in Christchurch. It is necessary to have an English-speaking parent representative. It is the responsibility of the student and his family to make provisions for the term holidays and for mid-term breaks.
