“Barrie was my father.
There have been three generations of our family through the college, starting with dad and his three brothers in the 1950s and 60s, followed by their sons in the 1980s and 90s, and followed by grandchildren (Jonathan and Alex Caddick), one a recent old boy and Alex currently in the 7th form.

The Rusbatches have a long association with St Bede’s, in particular their construction company, Rusbatch Brothers Ltd, being involved with a lot of the capital works that took place around the college. This included the new driveway, service entrance and service lanes, staff carpark, plus many other projects around the college over the years.

His funeral was attended by a number of old boys, including good friends Gary Lennon, Tom Gorman, Ray Malone, and several old boy priests officiated at the funeral service including Fr John Noonan, Fr Manning and Fr Kevin Mears.

Dad was also buried in his old boys’ tie, something I know meant a lot to him.

Dad was not as involved with the old boys association in recent years due to his ill health but he was a benefactor of the college, in particular giving money towards the gymnasium and performing arts suite.”

The Association extends it sympathy to Barrie’s family.
