Yr 13 History
No previous experience of history is necessary but it is recommended that a student gains a minimum of 16 credits in Level 2 History or 18 credits in Level 2 English.
The Year 13 course consists of a study of England 1558 to 1667 with three broad areas studied:
- Economy and Society
- Government and Politics 1588 – 1640
- Revolution, Republic and Restoration 1640 – 1667
Achievement Objectives
Students should be able to:
- Information gathering
- o define and analyse a worthwhile historical problem or task, identify a variety of relevant sources and record their information in an organised form.
- Information processing
- Summarise, sift and classify information
- Weigh evidence, distinguish fact from opinion, the significant from the trivial and recognise bias, propaganda and the limitations of a single piece of evidence
- Establish historical relationships between cause and effect, past and present, specific and general
- Identify and evaluate differing historical interpretations
- Form judgments and generalisations on the basis of supporting evidence and sound argument
- Presentation
- Present a sustained and convincing argument
