The theme On the Threshold recognises that for many students this is their final year at secondary school. Christian adulthood requires critical judgment, the ability to see issues, judge where there is right or wrong, and act to support right and reject wrong.
What we have learnt from the last millennium is that human beings are smart enough to deal with the major problems that have occurred as a result of the many technological advances; others occur simply because the long term impacts of advances that have not been considered in terms of what is ethical, moral, what is ecologically and socially sustainable for our planet and its occupants. More than ever, the development of human intelligence and advancement needs to be developed within a moral, ethical, religious and emotional framework. To ignore developing an ethical, religious and moral framework alongside technological and medical advancement will jeopardize our very survival.
