Religious Education

Head of Faculty – Mr Steven Entwistle

Religious Education is a way of finding out the truth about ourselves, our world and God. It has always fascinated people because it tries to deal with the fundamental questions about human life, searching for ways of answering or attempting to answer elusive questions.
• How do we understand ourselves?
• Who am I?
• If we have knowledge of God, where does it come from?
• Does God communicate with human beings and enable them to love him?
• What is my relationship with Jesus Christ?
If you’ve ever found yourself wondering about questions like these then you’re already thinking. Religious Education will help you to ask and ponder answers to these questions better and enable you to make up your mind about these fundamental issues.

Christian adulthood requires critical judgment, the ability to see issues, judge where there is right or wrong, and act to support right and reject wrong. What we have learnt from the last millennium is that human beings are smart enough to deal with the major problems that have occurred as a result of the many technological advances; others occur simply because the long term impacts of advances that have not been considered in terms of what is ethical, moral, what is ecologically and socially sustainable for our planet and its occupants. More than ever, the development of human intelligence and advancement needs to be developed within a moral, ethical, religious and emotional framework. To ignore developing an ethical, religious and moral framework alongside technological and medical advancement will jeopardize our very survival.
