Achievement Objectives Level 5 (Yrs 9 & 10)
Students will be able to
- Listen to and understand spoken language in Japanese in contexts studied in class.
- Give a prepared talk in Japanese from a context studied in class.
- Hold a short conversation in Japanese from a context studied in class.
- Read and understand written language in Japanese in contexts studied in class.
- Write sentences/Hiragana in Japanese in contexts studied in class.
- Show an understanding of Japanese culture and customs from a context studied in class.
This course is a pre-requisite for students who intend to study Japanese language at NCEA Level One in Year 11. The course aims to develop and extend the skills in reading, writing, listening and speaking Japanese which have already been introduced in Year 9.
An important component of this course is the development of the students’ knowledge and understanding of the Japanese way of life.
