Yr 10 Music
Full year course.
Achievement Objectives Levels 4 & 5 (Yrs 9 & 10)
Students will:
- Compare and contrast a range of music in relation to their contexts.
- Investigate the purpose and function of music.
- Integrate aural, practical and theoretical skills in understanding and analyzing music.
- Use musical elements, instruments, and technologies to create structured compositions and improvisations and notate them.
- Prepare, rehearse and present performances and reflect on music performances.
This option course continues building on the skills and knowledge gained in the previous year by studying such topics as:
- Music of Indonesia
- The blues
- Rap and reggae
- Music in films
It is strongly recommended that students have some practical ability in music or are learning an instrument at school or privately. Students who have the ability to undertake Level 1 NCEA credits in music performance will be encouraged to enrol in the appropriate achievement standards (up to 9 credits).
