Football / Soccer
Football (Soccer) is played during the winter terms on Saturday mornings and training generally occurs twice a week depending on coach and facility availability. The season commences this year on Saturday 31st March.
We had a great season last season with many teams finishing near the top of their divisions and we are keen to build even further on our successes this coming season. We will require year 9 team coaches and managers and we rely on parents and volunteers to help us out, so if you can contribute in any way – we would welcome your assistance.
Trials
There is pre-season training for those that would like to trial for the 1st X1. These training sessions will be held at the back fields beside the hockey turf at 3:30pm on Thursday the 9th February and again at 3:30pm on Thursday the 16th February. Duration of 1.5 hours.
Trials will be taking place at the school back fields between 10am – 12 noon on Sunday the 19th February and Sunday 26th February. You are encouraged to attend both of these trials if possible. You can contact the school’s director of sport should you have any questions.
Committee
The Football Club committee meet monthly on the first Wednesday of every month at 7:30pm in the boardroom. We welcome anyone interested in assisting in any capacity.
The AGM is open to all, see the clubs website for full details. Our club abides by the St Bede’s College code of conduct and all players must be registered, fully paid up and wear the uniform for all games. Our football club website is www.stbedesfootball.sportingpulse.net
Registration
The total cost of registration is $120 for one player. This drops to $100 per player if you have two or more children in the club. This is a slight reduction on last year’s registration costs. Every effort is being made to minimise the registration fees for the players. Payment is by cash, cheque or internet banking.

Playing uniform
A team playing shirt is provided for the season. These are to be handed back at the end of the season. If the shirt is not returned, there will be a charge of $35.
All teams other than the 1st X1 play in their black PE shorts.
With the exclusion of the 1st X1 all players are to wear plain black football socks which can be purchased from the school shop at a cost of $15 a pair.
1st X1
The 1st X1 coaches will advise these players on what they are required to purchase. There are additional costs for this group as they are our premier team and must be seen to be well attired and represent our school with distinction.
