Zac Barber – Athlete of the Month

Zac completed a remarkable sequence of successes when he won the Senior Boys Canterbury Secondary Schools Triathlon champs this year. The win gave Zac his 5th consecutive title, one title for every year he has been at St Bede’s.
Last weekend Zac competed in the South Island Secondary Schools Triathlon in Oamaru. He finished 1st and he can now add South Island Secondary School Senior champion to his C V.
Zac will attend the National Secondary Schools Triathlon at Lake Karapiro during tournament week at the end of March, we wish him well for this and we are sure that he will get St Bedes’ name up there and pick up a medal.
In October this year Zac will represent New Zealand in the world age group triathlon championships in Auckland. Zac was 9th in the men’s 16 to 19 years triathlon last year which was run in association with the World Cup series in Auckland last November.
At the end of summer Zac is hoping that he will be chosen in the New Zealand development squad.
Zac’s ultimate goal is to make a career out of triathlons.
